Spiritual Workshops and Presentations

Rudy's academic credentials include a B.A. in music and a Master of Divinity degree from Sacred Heart School of Theology. He has completed a unit of Clinical Pastoral Education and has trained as a Life Mission Associate, specializing in assisting people to become more aware of their unique and personal mission, or calling, in life. Rudy has had extensive experience with prayer in many forms, and has studied and practiced meditation techniques in many traditions, both Western and Eastern. For fifteen years he was the full-time Director of Music for two large Catholic parishes in Corpus Christi and Austin,Texas. Currently, Rudy is on staff at the Eternal Way Center in Austin developing a ministry of Spiritual Guidance.

Rudy's presentations can be tailored to fit any time frame, from a series during Advent or Lent, to an evening or a workshop.

Some topics he is currently offering are:

1) The Life and Way of Prayer of St. Teresa of Avila. Includes actual music from Teresa's lifetime and original music Rudy has composed to depict scenes from her life (He will need a piano to include this aspect). Rudy considers Teresa to be his Spiritual Mother, and her writings have helped him enormously. During this presentation Rudy shares his personal journey with Teresa, and his insights into her ways of Prayer. There will be time for discussion and for practicing forms of prayer as found in her writings.

2) The Practice of the Presence of God: Brother Lawrence and His Way of Remembering God. Includes music of a contemporary of Brother Lawrence, Louis Couperin, to give the"flavor" of Paris in the 1600's. Rudy presents Brother Lawrence's way of being aware of the continual Presence of God in every moment of life. There will be time for discussion and practice of prayer.

3) Fulfilling Your Soul's Purpose: Finding Your Uniquely Personal Mission in Life. A presentation of the principles found in Dr. Naomi Stephan's book, "Fulfill Your Soul's Purpose." Includes time for exercises exploring these life-principles. Rudy personally feels that this is one of the most important spiritual topics for today's world. Without a deeper look at what gives individual meaning and purpose to living life, it is difficult for people to focus on the really important things in life. In addition to these topics, Rudy has broad experience in Bhakti Yoga from an Eastern perspective, and this can be the subject of a presentation as well.

Rudy is also available for private spiritual direction.
